My Friend ELS

I was asked to write something about my friend ELSupra so I will start at the beginning when I first met him. Quite a few years ago I met ELS at a computer club meeting, he was the club's acting treasurer at the time. ELS loved his computers and kept every computer he had ever owned from his first up to the last. At that time even though I was a novice on the computer I had bought he was an old hand at it. ELS was more than willing to share his knowledge of computers with me, if I had a problem or a question and could not wait until the next meeting he was more than willing to give me what advice he could at his home. On one of my many trips to his place for the usual crisis well, it was for me at the time, he told me he also liked to talk on the CB radio and his handle was BIG BEAR. Well, when he got online with the Internet he was disappointed to find that he could not use the handle or nick BIG BEAR on IRC. It had already been taken on just about every IRC network he tried. He wanted a nick that was distinctive and his own and that is why he finally chose "ELSupra". He never did tell me why he chose that nick nor did I ever ask him. But after getting on the IRC channels he found it fit right into his niche, as he liked to help people with computer related problems. If he could not give the answer to a person's question directly he would go out of his way to find the answer or point the person in the right direction to get the answer they needed. ELS was a friendly person, all the friends he had on IRC will tell you he always had a sympathetic ear and was ready to listen to anyone who had a problem whether it was computer related or personal. It did not matter to ELS he was more than willing to offer help no matter what the subject was. He could not wait until the evenings to get online and chat with all his friends on IRC and I must say his untimely death from a massive heart attack came as a shock and a great loss not only to myself but to all his IRC friends as well. ELS death was also quite a scare for myself, as I discovered in my privilege of knowing ELS, I was only 6 days older than he was. I miss you very much Elsupra your best friend Dare_Devl and all your IRC friends.
